My friend just got a day pass for 5/29~5/31, so we canceled campground reservation at SEKI. Starting April 13th through October 27th, you may need a permit to drive into Yosemite. There are 3 periods with different requirements: - April 13th-June 30th on Sat, Sun, and holidays. - July 1- August 16th for all days. - August 17th - October 27th on Sat, Sun, and holidays. Planning to try and stake a spot out at Camp 4 on Thursday 10/19 but unsure about what time to get there - has anyone had any experience with FCFS lately? Tossing up between a 7am vs 10am arrival time Looking for clarification on something. July 3rd would be the day we enter, so does that mean we have to be back out on the 4th? Our plan was to show up early on the 3rd, attempt to get a FCFS permit to hike Half Dome, hike up to LYV and camp for the night, then hike HD on the 4th, stay another night at LYV and then hike back down on the 5th. Hoping that Bass Lake might be close enough to Yosemite that you all might have some recs. We’re trying to find a spot above Bass Lake to see the fireworks show. We’ve got small kids in tow and don’t really want to fight for parking down on the lake, so we’re hoping to find something in the hills above to just watch the show from the backs of our cars. Any assistance would be greatly Spring Break (March 24-27) First Come First Serve Advice trueI thought about doing FCFS and that's arriving early on a weekend (8am) from SF and it seemed too risky for me. I kept checking the travel yosemite site for all yosemite valley lodging, and eventually spots would show up inside the valley. It's more expensive but I found it worth it to be right in the valley. Bridalveil Creek is FCFS right now, along with Tamarack Flats. You would have to choose one and head there early and wait to find someone leaving (and frankly, I think it's going to be very slim pickings). The Tuolumne campgrounds won't likely be open this month let alone this weekend. Crane Flat isn't FCFS except for today and tomorrow. Yosemite July 4th I posted something earlier in this sub but I want a general consensus on something else: am I crazy for going into the park on the Fourth of July? I’ve seen the lines for Yellowstone on Memorial Day a few years ago, so I’m kinda terrified of what Yosemite could look like. Celebrate Independence Day in Yosemite with a Fourth of July BBQ at Tenaya Lodge and concert at the Wawona Hotel. Bass Lake holds an annual fireworks show that is one of the best displays around, making Bass Lake a popular July 4th destination. Celebrate 2025 Fourth of July in Houston and Galveston with fireworks, parades, rooftop parties, food specials and patriotic fun for all ages. FCFS sites ars grear in very popular parks, as sites book up well in advance. You need to be prepared with a backup plan but it gives an option of staying at a sought after location even if you forgot to book a site 5 months in advance. If you want to make the best of your 4th of July week in Yosemite, make sure to plan ahead and take this advice into account! Locals will tell you – avoid the Valley from 10am-4pm. “Camp 4 is open all year. Sites are shared, with up to 6 people per site. For 2023, from May 21 through October, reservations are required and available 2 weeks in advance.” There is a link to recreation.gov on that page. So FCFS isn’t what it sounds like, depending on the dates you plan to stay. I would also like to know. Fourth of July is a great weekend to visit the park. Yeah, it can be crowded but it’s usually a nice mix between warm summer weather and cool spring temps. If you can manage to get to the gates before 9am you’re pretty good and shouldn’t have any problem getting into the park. 4th of July Sorry to be the 100th person asking about the 4th of July in Yosemite, but my long distance boyfriend is visiting that week since I have time off from work, and I really want him to see Yosemite (he’s never been before). I’ve been reading about the crowds, though, and they sound terrible. I have booked a non-refundable accommodation and trip to Yosemite National Park for the 4th July long weekend. Super excited for this trip but looks like there is lot of uncertainty associated with the park opening. The earlier the better if there's even spots 4th of July weekend. IDK, 3am? Reply
