With the 2018 event a big success, MCACC repeated the event on New Year’s Eve (when there were also fireworks going off) and will do it again this Fourth of July. Many people bonded with the shelter pups after spending the Fourth of July with them, and they began regularly volunteering at the shelter. Some of the volunteers also adopted the shelter dogs! “Many participants developed lasting relationships with the shelter, returning to provide foster care, adopt a pet or volunteer,” the MCACC wrote. MCACC helps adopt out dogs and cats, provide vaccination and spay/neuter services to our incoming animals and is the agency that citizens need to contact to get their dogs licensed. We also have availability for our citizens to volunteer with us to help care for our furry friends. Our East and West shelters will have adjusted hours on 4th of July of 12-4pm for adoptions. Lewis in Mesa We need volunteer fosters to give much-needed temporary relief to shelter animals that need a break from our fast-paced environment, care for animals recovering from medical procedures, or help underage or underweight animals until they are ready for adoption. Due to the high-stress environment of an animal shelter, MCACC does not allow volunteers to bring their personally-owned animals onto MCACC campus while volunteering. We are currently recruiting volunteers, including those who wish to foster animals, to support both our East and West Shelters.
